IS SMOKING CANNABIS BENEFICIAL OR HARMFUL?
Smoking cannabis is a very common practice. For instance, the estimated number of adults who used marijuana in 2014 in the United States has more than doubled between 2001 and 2013 to 9.5 per cent.
Of course, both the research and experience of many users is very clear that because in cannabis there are excellent beneficial active ingredients (especially endocannabinoids and other helpful chemicals) it can be useful in coping with cancer, MS, inflammations, etc. Unfortunately, at the same time, there is no doubt that smoking or ingesting cannabis in other forms that contain high levels of THC can be also addictive and somewhat harmful. There is a long-lasting war going on between anti-marijuana and pro-marijuana parties, and as someone said, “both of them are equally stupid”. They deserve the name because they are too proud and blind figure out a very clear and simple truth according to which cannabis can be both beneficial and harmful.
Cannabis contain unique compounds called cannabinoids. There are over 60 different cannabinoids discovered so far in cannabis including THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the most well-known. THC is credited with causing the marijuana high. In large enough doses, THC can induce anxiety, euphoria, or auditory and visual hallucinations.
Concerning the question, whether regular use of cannabis to prevent and treat different health conditions can be regarded as safe, it depends on the content of various active ingredients and the form of the used Cannabis. For obvious reason I would not recommand smoking cannabis or using any formula which causes high and leads to addiction. And please, do not believe those (mostly addicted marijuana smokers) who claim that smoking weed is safe only beneficial and does not cause any harmful side effects. I know too many people who smoke weed in order to believe this nonsense. I have clear evidence that chronic and regular use of this drug has negative impact on their mood and behaviour.
According to the British Lung Foundation’s one cannabis joint is the equivalent of twenty cigarettes. It means that according to some researchers smoking marijuana can be much more powerful in increasing risk of lung cancer than even smoking cigarettes as just a single cannabis joint is like smoking an entire pack of cigarettes! However, we know enough about numerous deadly chemicals present in cigarette smoke in order to believe that anything (including smoking cannabis) can be more dangerous, all the more since many studies are sponsored by big pharma to get rid of potential competition in the form of natural remedies. On the contrary, there is also scientific data that demonstrated smoking cannabis does not increase the risk of lung cancer because although on one hand smoking anything (including cannabis) can contribute to lung cancer, on the other hand cannabis smoke contains powerful active ingredients that prevent cancer. A study which was published in January 2012 in the Journal of the American Medical Association, involved 5,000 participants indicated that regular marijuana smokers had no discernible impairment in lung activity from non-smokers. Nevertheless, even if smoking weed doesn’t increase the risk of lung cancer, it doesn’t change the fact that it is safe or that it doesn’t lead to other negative effects.
Cannabis, like other stimulants, is associated with overstimulation of the central nervous system and overproduction of dopamine – the pleasure inducing hormone. When cannabis is used only occasionally it doesn’t cause a bigger problem. Unfortunately, many of its users end up with addiction and frequent overstimulation of dopamine producing brain cells. And as soon as these cells are forced to flood the brain with dopamine too often they are exhausted and unable to make enough of this precious hormone in between those moments of pleasure associated with smoking cannabis. As a result the deficiency of dopamine leads to anxiety, mood change, depression, lack of motivation, etc.
Ingesting cannabis with THC can be compared to using other stimulants including coffee, green tea, cocoa or numerous other plants that apart from beneficial chemicals contain also harmful substances which often lead to addiction. It is, therefore, wise to use plants that contain only beneficial active ingredients. For the same reason, carob is much healthier than cocoa (high in theobromine), rooibos tea than green tea (high in caffeine), barley cup than coffee, whole grapes than red wine and chlorella or ginseng than cannabis (high in THC).
Fortunately, there are certain ways to use Cannabis without experiencing side effects. Rick Simpson invented a unique and simple home technology of extracting a cannabis oil which seems to be a very effective remedy often able to cure many people from various types of cancer. On YouTube you can find numerous recovery stories reported as a result of using the Rick Simpson oil. He has been sharing this oil with his family and friends without charging for it. What is important, although the oil still contains some psychoactive THC, taking small doses of the oil makes people well but unlike smoking cannabis it doesn’t get them high. There are some other methods to use cannabis against cancer but the Rick Simpson oils seems to be most effective. READ MORE ABOUT RICK SIMPSON OIL >
Another good option for some conditions and for people who wish to avoid THC and the high is juicing good quality raw cannabis indica. However, from what I have learned it looks like the Rick Simpson cannabis oil works better in treating cancer as raw cannabis does not seem to have the same medical benefits as heated one. It is explained by the fact that THCA in raw cannabis does not activate the CB1 or CB2 receptors as effectively as THC (from extracted oil). For this reason the raw cannabis such as juice is less potent and effective against cancer. However, taking into consideration many recovery stories and testimonials for some people with some conditions raw cannabis juice seems to be extremely powerful and might be even more effective than heated formulas such as Rick Simpson oil. The video I included below is an example of unbelievable effectiveness of raw cannabis juice in treating different health problems:
