Being overweight is one of the key causes of dark inner thighs because when you walk your thighs rub against each other causing discoloration.

– Dark inner thighs can be caused by hormonal imbalance. That is why some ladies notice their inner thighs get darker during certain stages of their menstrual cycle.

– Some sources suggest that sweating of thighs when they rub each other during walking. Sweating between thighs promotes fungi or bacterial grow. Corynebacterium minutissimum bacterium responsible for causing a condition called Erythrasma is also listed among possible causes of inner thigh discoloration.

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is the cause of skin darkening.

Insulin resistance (diabates) affects skin and contributes to skin discoloration on inner thighs.

Acanthosis nigricans is a condition that causes discoloration and dark patches on skin in diabetics.

Lemon acts as a bleaching agent for skin. Regular application of raw fresh lemon on darker skin reduces pigmentation. Cut one fresh lemon in half and rub it on your inner thighs for about 30 minutes every day in the morning and before bed. To prevent drying effect of lemon apply some raw palm oil or raw coconut oil. Both oils are excellent as they are also used to reduce discoloration. Another way of applying lemon juice is by using lemon spray. Squeeze fresh lemon juice into a spray bottle and add equivalent amount of water. Shake every time before using it and spray every few minutes on dark areas on thighs. After 30 minutes or longer apply some raw palm oil or raw coconut oil.

Turmeric prevents melanin production, thus, you can use this spice to keep an even skin tone and treat skin discoloration.  Mix 1 tablespoon of fresh ground by you at home turmeric powder with freshly squeezed orange juice (enough to create a paste). Apply it on the darker skin areas of inner thighs and leave it for at least 30 minutes. Remove the paste, clean skin using warm water and apply some raw coconut oil. Repeat at least once daily until you see the results. According to Dr. Jessica Weiser formulas with turmeric, lactic acid, and papaya are effective skin-brightening agents.

Turmeric and lemon for removing Inner Thigh Discoloration (Dark Inner Thighs)

Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) extract has many benefits for our health and our skin. Dr. Shah suggests using kojic acid, liquorice root extract, vitamin C, niacinamide (vitamin B3), soya, and retinoid (compound related to vitamin A) to remove skin discolorations and dark spots. Licorice root extract is effective in removing inner thihs discoloration, dark circles, darkened skin due to scars, and dark spots. It contains Glabridin – a tyrosinase inhibitor which halts production of melanin that causes skin to become darker. Glabridin is an excellent natural alternative to the popular inthetic skin lightening creams containing hydroquinone or other chemichals. To apply extract to the skin, wash the skin and dry it. Shake the bottle containing the licorice extract, pour a few drops on a cotton ball or a swap and apply gently on the disclored skin on thy, face or other places. Leave it overnight and wash in the morning and apply some coconut oil to prevent dry skin. Avoid exposing the treated with licorice places to the sunlight during the treatment.

In one study, a combination of licorice extract (0.4%), betamethasone (0.05%) and retinoic acid (0.05%) produced an excellent skin lightening response in up to 70% of study participants.

– You can make an excellent cream by mixing similar amounts of licorice root extract, organic turmeric powder, fresh lemon juice, and raw coconut oil. Make a paste, keep it in a closed container in a fridge and use every day in the morning and evening after shower.

– You can apply some aloe vera gel (free from chemicals) to the affected areas of your thighs as it helps regenerate skin.

Potatoes can work as a bleaching agent, cut it into slices then put them on your thighs. You can also grate or blend one raw potato, extract the juice through a sieve or cloth, and apply the juice on dark inner thighs. After 30 minutes or longer apply some raw palm oil or raw coconut oil.

Baking soda has antifungal, antibacterial, and antiinflammatory properties and can make the skin whiter, shinier and softer. Mix it with some organic apple cider vinegar (must be with mother) to make a paste, apply on the skin for at least 30 minutes. After 30 minutes or longer apply some raw palm oil, raw coconut oil, aloe vera gel, emu oil or olive oil. Continue every day until you see improvement.

– Keep your thighs dry and every day in the morning and evening massage either raw palm oil or coconut oil into your thighs.


– If all home remedies fail to help you get rid of dark inner thighs, consider using products containing hydroquinone, a chemical lightening agent that is applied directly to the dark skin. It gradually bleach the skin by inhibiting the enzyme Tyrosinase, which is essential in the production of the pigment melanin. Remember to test it first on small patch of skin first, and wait for one day to see if there is any allergic reaction, dry skin, redness or a burning sensation. Unfortunately, as all drugs it get into your blood and the longer you use it the more side effects it will produce. Using hydroquinone is associated with the risk of exogenous ochronosis (EO) – brownish-yellow or ochre coloured collections of pigment found in patients carrying the disease. EO was reported as a big issue in South Africa, where HQ creams became popular in1960s.

Advanced Triple Whitening Serum a newer formula that seems to be more effective than hydroquinone. It blocks and inhibits melanin production in dark areas, lightens skin tone, helps remove and lighten dark spots, prevents oxidization, and hydrates and moisturizes the skin. Wash your body two times a day. Use only soaps (such as Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Soap o even better natural soaps with charcoal or clay), shampoos, cosmetics, deodorant or detergents with harmless natural ingredients.

– Since folic acid (folate) deficiency (diet low in green leafy vegetables) can lead to hyperpigmentation make sure you include parsley leaf, spinach, kale or other green leafy vegetables in your diet every day as by far they are the highest sources of folate. If you do this you wont need supplements. If you can’t have vegetables use only methylfolate form of this vitamin (about 200-400mcg a day).

– Go on an anti-inflammatory diet: Get plenty of fresh raw vegetable juices and raw vegetables (especially those rich in carotenoids such as carrots, as well as green leafy vegetables) and fresh fruits. Drink fresh vegetable juices with 1 teaspoon of ground organic turmeric.

– Avoid pro-inflammatory oils and margarines and containing them junk food. Use only raw organic Coconut oil.

Vitamin D3 (10 – 20,000 IU a day). Without adequate vitamin D, your body cannot control infection, in your skin or elsewhere. Exposing large areas of your skin to appropriate amounts of sunshine is the best way to optimize your vitamin D levels, or use a safe tanning bed. You should expose your skin until you just barely begin turning pink, which indicates you’ve generated the optimal amount of vitamin D for the day.

– There is also evidence that addressing a very common today, due to soil depletion or refined diet, Magnesium deficiency can increase glutathione levels, and vice versa, as boosting glutathione can increase magnesium too. Magnesium is required for proper functioning of enzyme gamma glutamyl transpeptidase which is necessary for the synthesis of Glutathione. The optimum daily intake of good quality magnesium such as magnesium citrate is considered at 400- 800 mg per day. Best dietary sources of magnesium are greens such as spinach, squash, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, beans, walnuts, almonds and Brazil nuts. However, due to soil depletion diet alone may not be sufficient today to provide our body with proper amount of this most important mineral, all the more since there are many other factors that are involved in his problem. Also regular vitamin D supplementation, which is necessary today, leads to magnesium deficiency as well.

– Include good probiotic formula to boost good bacteria in your colon.

Externally try to use raw organic coconut oil, castor oil  and vitamin E oil. Avoid cosmetics with harmful chemicals. Many of today’s skin care products, soaps, shampoos, and cosmetics are nothing more than a toxic mixture of chemicals which cause more skin problems than they solve.

Agnus castus is the best herbal remedy I know to treat PMS and regulate one of the female sex hormones – progesterone. However, not too many people realise that men produce some progesterone too. In our bodies it used to prevent testosterone (male sex hormone) from converting into an inflammatory type of testosterone which may cause inflammatory acne in teenage boys. So if you know any young man with acne encourage him to take Agnus castus capsules (Natures aid) or tincture (Natures answer) for a couple of months as it will help if the condition is related to the progesterone imbalance.

No gluten, low or no grain diet (stimulate igf-1). If you are not gluten sensitive use organic Spelt flower instead of wheat.

Low-glycaemic diet, no simple sugars (fructose, white flour, corn syrup, etc.), no chocolate & cheese, low fruit diet (fructose), more raw vegetable juices and raw vegetables.

– Avoid or at least reduce consumption of dairy and meat products.

– Good quality multivitamin-mineral formula (high in B vitamins): 1 tablet after breakfast. Please do not buy cheap formulas as their potency is very low and they contain only short list of inorganic ingredients. It must be a good quality formula such as Healthy Mega (HealthAid), VM75 (Solgar) or Special Two (NOW Foods) which are an excellent multi-vitamin and mineral formulas fortified with alfalfa powder, rutin, citrus bioflavonoids, bromelain, herbs, digestive enzymes and many other super nutrients. If your diet is very healthy and you stay away from refined foods, sugar and stimulants then take only 1/2 tablet after breakfast.

– Since Vitamin B complex (B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, Folate) play very important role in dealing with ADHD I recommand getting B complex with a good quality multivitamin-mineral formula which is high in B vitamins. Adults may take 1 tablet of Healthy Mega after breakfast, children 1/2 tablet (or less) crushed and mixed with juice after breakfast.

Also thoughtful reading an uplifting spiritual literature such as the Gospel of John (found in the Bible), which presents God as always loving, saving, healing, forgiving, and self-sacrificing, is another great way to find inward peace, hope and happiness.

In case you lack strong will power, which is required to improve lifestyle, avoid junk food and stimulants, don’t forget about daily fervent prayers and reading or listening to a good spiritual literature (such as the Bible, Desire of Ages > and Ministry of Healing> by Ellen G White available online free of charge). It will greatly increase the effectiveness of your improved diet and lifestyle.

If you carefully study all the information presented there and follow the steps, you will not only become victorious but will actually experience an inward peace and transformation which will enable you to enjoy your new lifestyle (including diet and regular physical activity).
